Research Activities
Research in our laboratory is focused on understanding the interaction between intracellular bacterial pathogens and the human host cell. We study Coxiella burnetii and Legionella species. These human pathogens establish very different vacuolar niches within the host yet they both employ the Dot/Icm Type IV Secretion System to achieve intracellular replication. We focus on the cohorts of effector proteins that mediate intracellular survival and replication of these pathogensTechniques/Expertise
